Beginner Piano Lessons for Adults
Are you looking to play the piano but don’t know where to start? Look no further than the Lauber Music Academy, where we specialize in helping adult beginners like you unlock the joy of playing the piano. We’ll guide you every step of the way, from the very first note to creating your own musical masterpieces.
Why Choose the Lauber Music Academy? Our instructors are passionate about music, and they love helping new students discover the magic of the piano. They’ve been there, they know what it’s like to be a beginner, and they’re experts at making learning fun and engaging. We create a welcoming and supportive environment where you can relax, learn at your own pace, and feel proud of your progress.
What You’ll Learn in Your Beginner Piano Lessons:
We’ll start with the basics, making sure you’ve got a solid foundation for your musical journey. You’ll get the hang of things like finger positioning, how to read music, and how to make your hands move smoothly. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you’ll pick it up!
Then, we’ll dive into the magic of music theory, which unlocks a whole new world of musical understanding. Think of it like learning the language of music. You’ll start to understand rhythms, scales, chords, and how they all work together. It’s like figuring out the secret code behind those beautiful melodies!
But the best part? You won’t be learning theory by doing boring written exercises. You’ll be learning at the exact moment your fingers touch the keys within the first 5 minutes of your first lesson because we combine music theory with playing simultaneously. We’ll have you playing melodies you actually like, which is a lot more motivating than just practicing scales.
We’ll also help you develop your musical ear, which is like adding a whole new dimension to your playing. It’s like learning to hear the music in a whole new way. You’ll be able to pick out different notes, recognize melodies, and even start to improvise your own music!
Is it ever too late to start learning piano?
The answer is no.
Intermediate Piano Lessons for Adults
Perhaps you took a few years of lessons as a child or a teenager, stopped but now as an adult, you would like to pick it up again. The good news is even if you have forgotten how to play or even how to read notes, in my 40 years of experience I’ve noticed one very important thing: What you learned in your past is still there! This means that you will be surprised at the speed at which it all comes back, so don’t worry and think you’ll be starting from nothing. Trust your brain; it retains far more than you can imagine!
Our Approach to Intermediate Piano Lessons: We believe that everyone learns differently, so we personalize your lessons to fit your individual learning style. It’s like having a personal music coach guiding you through your musical journey. We’ll create a learning plan tailored to your goals, interests, and learning pace.
We’re all about making music a joyful experience, not just a classroom lesson. We’ll mix up our lessons with hands-on exercises, different music styles, and anything that keeps you interested. You can always count on us for support. We’re always here to cheer you on, answer your questions, and make sure you feel confident.
When you reach the intermediate level, we have anywhere between 2 to 6 concerts a year in which you can participate if you wish. Here is an example of a student who dreamed of playing Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. She played a short excerpt (in front of 100 people!) four months after her first-ever lesson.
A year later (18 months after her first lesson), she played on a nine-foot Steinway Grand Piano in front of 150 people.
Here she is playing another one of her favorite pieces by Ludovico Einaudi, “Nuvole Bianche.”
Trust your
brain; it retains far more than you can imagine!
Advanced Piano Lessons for Adults
If you want to improve your technique, whether finger, octave, or other general techniques, my teachers and I will do this with great pleasure. We focus on refining your skills, enhancing your musicality, and preparing you for advanced performances.
Confidence on Stage: Working on confidence and stage fright is something I have helped many people with over the years. Using a blend of approaches I have learned from researching the disciplines of sports psychology, motivational speaking, meditation, martial arts, and others, I do believe I can help you.
